The record is undated (as is common for 78s), but production of shellac records stopped in the UK circa 1958. The manuscript of Tagomezo is dated July 1954, so the record cannot be from before that date.

"Merling" is probably Frank Merrick's private label (MERrick LINGva?). As the matrix numbers are MER 26 and MER 27, there are probably earlier records by Merrick as well.
